I wonder if Castillo was influenced by Gil Scott Heron?

If not, they were tuning in to a similar station.

No. I doubt Gil Scott had encountered the poet. https://www.marxists.org/subject/art/literature/castillo/index.htm

Thank you.

I was just making a comparison to the flow and meter of the early part of his poem, because in my mind it mirrored closely parts of "the revolution will not be televised", or "whitey on the moon":

"No one will ask them about their fashion sense,

or their long lunches at the faculty club.

No one will want to know about their absurd

attempts to discover "the meaning of it all."

No one will care about or even understand

their economic outlook for

"the current recession".

They will not be questioned on

Greek mythology,

nor their new age remedy for

feelings of alienation."....

The Revolution will not be Televised. It will be LIVE!

Of course Gil Scott is tremendous. And yes he speaks in struggle like Castillo. Even further though not mapping literally, but metaphysically, one can speak of his tragic fate. Still, not to his demerit Castillo unknown. Gil Scott spoke from his situation in USA. A similar foe.

A similar foe, indeed!

Sorry I don't visit much, anymore.

After the quarrel on Horvath's site, and with his and your patroness, KDubyah Norton popping up all the time, I get tired of playing at being headhunter of Nazis.

Anyhow, I hope that you are keeping fit, and I hope that your wife's situation is improving.

Well the tempest in a teapot passes if seen. I am of opinion and general agreement that disagreement can be fruitful.

What I like most is your Surrealist imagination. As a writer and reader of all and everything I see a kindred soul.

As a chap chatting craft in the Oaxaca Zocalo reflecting on how "World Heritage City" status creates a slum and University town I think a 21st century political magic realism out of Nicaragua might light up the Stack.

Powerful piece(s)!

The page is still smoking....

And Plato might should have left "it" in the Cave.

Polished Hammer! Rusty Machete!

- Being deftly used as tongs and scalpel, performing a reverse Caesarian, with the Whole Earth's history being ripped backwards through the eye of the needle- the same one that the camel and the rich man shall not pass through!

Awesome!
