The Paranoid Critical Transformation

Given the 'hall of mirrors' I inhabit and the deliberate persona I project on to the world, I guess I shouldn´t be treated with any extra caution. Well, unless you´re this beautifully paranoid.

The Paranoiac Critical method was a sensibility, or way of perceiving reality that was developed by Salvador Dalí. It was defined by Dalí himself as "irrational knowledge" based on a "delirium of interpretation". More simply put, it was a process by which the artist found new and unique ways to view the world around him. It is the ability of the artist or the viewer to perceive multiple images within the same configuration.

As a matter of fact, all of us have practiced the Paranoid Critical Method when star-gazing or ass-grazing, or when staring at clouds in the sky, or huge boobs, and seeing different shapes and visages therein. Dalí elevated this uniquely human characteristic into his own art form. He was working with styles of Impressionism, Futurism and Cubism. Dalí's paintings became associated with three general themes: 1) man's universe and sensations, 2) sexual symbolism and 3) ideographic imagery.

I guess I´m able to create what I call "last hand painted dream photographs" which are both physical and virtual, painted representations of the hallucinations and images I perceive while in my paranoid state while I´m obviously not in it. Go figure, LOL! Although I certainly have my own load of mental problems to bear, it can be said safely that my delusions and paranoid hallucinations don`t totally dominate my twisted yet sharp mind, however cooked, as I´m able to convey them to the Substack canvas free of charge.

Being a painter of miraculous skill, a master of disguise, a trickster, I hate all of these, I guess I´m capable of reproducing my myriad fantasies and hallucinations as visual illusions on your computer or iPhone screen you may misread, misunderstand, mistreat.

It´s in this context that one of Dalí's most famous statements takes on a whole new meaning and understanding.

"The only difference between myself and a madman, is that I am not mad!"

In Dalí's own words, taken from his Conquest of the Irrational:

"My whole ambition in the pictorial domain is to materialize the images of my concrete irrationality with the most imperialist fury of precision..."

He then goes on to say:

"Paranoiac-critical activity organizes and objectivizes in an exclusivist manner the limitless and unknown possibilities of the systematic association of subjective and objective 'significance' in the irrational..."

"..it makes the world of delirium pass onto the plane of reality"

Well, that´s Dali. But I´m Libor Soural, a totally different story, a myriad of them, both true and imagined stories. The frontier border blurs … that´s where, imperfectly, I´m a perfect example of a paranoiac-critical method, though I´m unaware of any deceptive philosophy and methodology I may be using in the process of creating art. I´m an artist, after all. Though I appear to be a madman, your maniac, mad at you.

Employing the method when creating a work of art uses an active process of the mind to visualize images in the work and incorporate these into the final product. An example of the resulting work is a double image or multiple image in which an ambiguous image can be interpreted in different ways. Well, maybe that´s one of the reasons why I´m unemployed.

What techniques do I use to disorient the viewer in paranoiac face and old age adolescence infancy? You tell me! I just sort of know I use double images derived from my paranoiac-critical method to create the allegorical faces of Old Age, Adolescence, and Infancy. It is through this process I develop these complex double images used to undermine the irrational world of the image by making it more believable than the viewer's real world.

Does it force you to critique my artwork by employing this four step approach to only try to grasp what I´m trying to convey? Description. Analysis. Interpretation. Judgment. Whoops!

After both knowing me and knowing me not, do you possess paranoiac knowledge?Paranoiac knowledge develops from our imaginary relation to the Other as a primordial misidentification or illusory self-recognition of autonomy, control, and mastery, thus leading to persecutory anxiety and self-alienation.

She may be diagnosed with delusional paranoia. I have to admit that my fears, and I have none, LOL, are just paranoia. Don´t tell anyone, even in your ultra-private emails! Worry and sadness: Paranoid thoughts may also cause people to experience anxiety and low mood due to how they believe their thoughts may affect their life. Stigma: Due to misunderstandings about paranoia and how people with paranoia may act, they may be subject to discrimination by others. I don´t discriminate anybody, period!

Maybe you´re not a reverse paranoiac, wink, wink! Reverse paranoia is the belief that the Universe is conspiring for you, not against you, though you project it that way. The term is called pronoia. Pronoia describes a state of mind that is the opposite of paranoia. Whereas a person suffering from paranoia feels that persons or entities are conspiring against them, a person experiencing pronoia believes that the world around them conspires to do them good.

Salvador Dali used surrealism and symbolism in his painting style. He was influenced by Freud's psychological theories and often tried to tap into his subconscious so he could paint images. He created a technique called the paranoiac-critical method to induce irrational thought while painting. For Dalí, the eye is the instrument for showing the spectator “invisible things” and the theme of the “double image - the image which suggests or turns into a second image either at first glance or on being stared at intently”.

Sigmund Freud was the founder of psychoanalysis, a theory of how the mind works and a method of helping people in mental distress. Freud was born in Freiberg, Moravia (today Příbor, Czech Republic) to a family of Jewish wool merchants. I am Libor, born in the Czech Republic´s Moravia, Libor Pribor, literally meaning “cutlery”, Libor Pribor rhymes, Libor Soural doesn´t, LOL, and I´m a Jew who psychoanalyzes and is being psychoanalyzed as we speak, whoops! That´s no cosmic connection or race, wink, wink! Right?

Freud is considered the father of modern psychology, his theories and ideas on the connections that exist between the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, the body, and the world around us are still as widely known as they were when he first espoused them at the turn of the 20th century. The form of therapy that Freud pioneered, called psychoanalysis, has played a foundational role in the practice of therapy in general. As a theorist and a clinician, he illustrated the potential power of talking and making observations about one's inner life in improving symptoms of mental illness.

Ooh, my life is so interesting while yours is so boring, or vice versa, such a perfect couple, ouch, it hurts! So I propose that the mind is divided into three components: id, ego, and superego, and that the interactions and conflicts among the components create personality. I propose that we use defence mechanisms to cope with anxiety and maintain a positive self-image. I propose, but God disposes! No matter I further the development of talk therapy as an approach to reach you. You know me, a Female Body Inspector, not at it, yet! Yet it seems and feels like you´re waterboarding me, gurgle, gurgle! Not Google! Fully universal, I´m almost hysterically focused on female sexuality and its potential for neurotic expression.

Back to my surrealism or Souralism, I don´t paint eyes because I don´t have eye-contact. The eye represents “the window of the soul”. This means that it immediately reflects our emotions, our fears, and our deepest emotive shades. Yet William Shakespeare isn´t right 110% that "The eyes are the windows to your soul."

But eyes are probably the most important symbolic sensory organ. They can represent clairvoyance, omniscience, and/or a gateway into the soul. Other qualities that eyes are commonly associated with are: intelligence, light, vigilance, moral conscience, and truth. Yet what eyes see may easily deceive. But it´s an old proverb suggesting that the eyes are the windows into how you feel or what you are thinking.

Jesus says the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. And remember that you are special because God created you and loves you unconditionally. In His eyes you are significant; you are His treasure. Through Jesus you can find safety, security and a sense of belonging. The Bible promises that nothing can separate you from God's love. No matter what, we are special in the eyes of God! Romans 8:38-39

Surrealism is a literary movement that experiments with a new mode of expression called automatic writing, or automatism, which seeks to release the unbridled imagination of the subconscious. I sure am hilarious because of that, because you say so, I believe you, you have me convinced. You know me, a deeply flawed individual, so full of loopholes, accessing my subconscious through the hypnotic state between being awake and sleep. In other words, so fucking crazy, but not, maybe! May what? The 13th of May, LOL! Thank God it´s Saturday, not Friday, what a relief! I hope you won´t give me another black eye! Who wants a bad bitch anyway?

So according to my memories, our mind uses our natural everyday language to conjure up our fantasies. Dreams are ‘wish-fulfilments’. Any dream can be looked at as a way to get something that you want or don’t want, either literally or symbolically. We cannot deny that most of our dreams are derived from our subconscious mind, which mostly plays through the possible events and outcomes of our present-day lives. This theory would, for instance, explain why you may have often woken up in cold sweat after dreaming that you missed an important exam on the morning of the said exam. Sorry, to blow it all with this very unromantic example, because we love romance, bad romance, like Lady Gaga´s Bad Romance video, whoops. I just needed you snapped out of the dreaming, lol!

Though not a true paranoid, I´m able to simulate a paranoid state, without the use of drugs or alcohol, and upon my return to 'normal perspective' I project what I see and feel and envision therein. It could be true that I or my existence create unlikely and often outlandish imagery/word collages/feelings, but they just happen, they don´t ask me to exist. They just do. You cause this. Who are you? You tell me! Have we met before, in what life? Refresh my memory, how I got you pregnant, and everything! What were we like? Who was I to you, who were you to me? You know everything I don´t. Describe the time, the place only you know! Well, I´m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, whoops! And I don´t know everything about women, I just thought I did. You´ve proven me wrong, wink, wink! Teach me anyway, my mentor, I´m your Centaur ….
